India's new record in ODI. Jai Ho!

Wow! What a match it was. India played Sri Lanka at Rajkot yesterday, 15 Dec 2009. And, the match was really entertaining. I missed to watch the live telecast coz I was in the office throughout. :( Still the news updates and phones from friends and online score info were there. Of course these could not match the thrill of live telecast, but fine.

India posted 414, yes FOUR ONE FOUR. The highest total for India in ODI; earlier was 413 against Bermuda. This achievement was greater in the aspect firstly that we cross passed 413 and secondly this time against a good team, Sri Lanka. It was not Bermuda any more. Shehwag blazed and was beutifully supported by others as well. Great record. and for the first time in Cricket's history any team has posted two 150-runs partnerships in just one inning. India! Jai Ho! The scrorers were busy all the time. The crowd was enjoying the moment on the field and off the field. Well done!

But, Sri Lanka were also competent enough to bring wrinkles on Indians' foreheads. Dilshan, Sangakara, Tharanga--they were hammering and when they were hammering, it felt as if we wont make it. Till the last ball, the Lankans had match to their side. One of the commnetators on radio said, if India manages to tie the match on the last ball, they will be happy. Lanka all set to win, but fortune turned its face from their side just when it was most required. A few instances of good field work by Indians in the end helped them grab the match.

Of course we won, but Dhoni should rethink whether it was worth winning like this. SL had upper hand all the times. Ballers could not put pressure on batsmen even when the asking rate was over 8 from the first ball. Sri Lanka did well. Really well.
But in the end the result matters. And I am happy, over-happy with the victory.

I just think if the pitch-curators are looking for a new job. They must be fired after this. God bless them, and God bless Sri Lanka for the rest of the series.

Jai Ho!
