Now thats what is called Dilli ki Sardi. People were complaining about not-too-much of cold in Delhi. Expectations were high that this season weather will not be as cold as it should be. All were just muttering Global Warming, some without even understanding the connotation. December was passing and no cold, no fog. A day or two with some fog made the newspapers to put the front news as incoming of smog, and then a lull again.
Now the thick sheet of fog has blanketed Delhi and other parts of India. People got happy for a few days and enjoyed the cold. Flights and trains delayed or cancelled. The heavy sword of cold also slaughtered a few unprivileged and underprivileged fellas. People who were enjoying the cold started getting worried. Too much of cold. And the heavy snowish curtain all around. Every now and then news started pouring in about coldest day in a year, coldest day in 5 years or 10 years or 50 years.
Come out of home in the morning and you are engulfed in the deep ocean of fog. Thats Dilli ki Sardi. Shivering hands, running noses, trembling legs, vapour out of mouth. Jackets, pullovers, scarfs, mufflers, gloves. Thats Dilli ki Sardi.
